CRANE EE-5301 DROP SHAPE COOL MIST – What You Should Know
The Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist Humidifier is one of the most popular units available on the market. Not only is it known for its great performance, but also for its unique design and shape. Crane actually has a large selection of humidifiers ranging from playful children styles all the way up to their more expensive germ defense styles.
The Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist was recently a finalist in the International Housewares Design Awards in 2011. I believe this along with its affordable price is the reason why this machine garners so much interest. On top of that this humidifier does a great job of relieving dry cough, cold and flu symptoms, and nosebleeds in my experience. If you’re looking for an affordable way to keep your allergies and cold symptoms at bay, then I highly recommend looking into this and any other Crane products that are available.
What is it?
The Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist is an ultrasonic humidifier that can mist up to 2.3 gallons (on a 0.9 gallon tank) for every 24 hrs. (this units will work up to 10 hours on a 0.9 gallon tank on it’s highest setting. Up to 50 hours on it’s lowest). It does not require a filter and is actually one of the few brands that is recommended by physicians. This machine works really well for small to average sized rooms that are approximately 250-300 ft.² in size. The Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist also features a 360° nozzle that makes it easy to position the mist where you want.
This energy-efficient and compact unit has an auto-shut off function and also runs very quiet. This means using it at night should not cause too many problems for the light sleeper. If you can sleep with a fish tank or even a space heater in your room, then you should have no problem getting rest with this.
Although this units does not require a filter, it does come with a demineralization cartridge for keeping your water clean and germ free.
What I liked?
Besides its unique design and ultrasonic style, I really liked how well the Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist Humidifier worked for our room, especially at night. The early stages of getting sick really irritate me. The worst is in the morning when my sinuses feel dry and I can’t stop coughing. This machine does a great job of soothing my sinuses overnight so my nasal passage doesn’t feel as dry and congested in the morning.
Another thing I really liked about this machine was how quiet it was, even on the highest setting. Usually I have no problems sleeping with any level of consistent white noise, but my girlfriend is different. If she can sleep with this then I don’t think it should be a problem for most people.
Lastly, after using this for the past week we’ve noticed no white dust or calcium build up and also haven’t experienced any leaks either. Keep in mind though, we usually run our water through a Brita filter before filling up our machine and don’t usually turn it up on the highest setting for long periods of time either.
What I didn’t Like?
There really isn’t much that I didn’t like about the Crane Drop Shape Cool Mist. It’s an affordable unit, recommended by physicians, and does a great job keeping the moisture in our room at a balanced level. We do clean our unit daily and so far haven’t had any major problems operating it when needed.
If you’re looking for an affordable unit suitable for a small room that runs very quiet and isn’t difficult to set up or maintain, then you should take a closer look at this machine. Overall I believe that Crane makes great products, so if the drop shape style isn’t your thing, you should take a look at the other styles that are available.
