Honeywell HCM-6009 QuietCare 9-Gallon Output Console Humidifier w/ Air Washing Technology - What You Should Know
If you’re looking for something to humidify more than just a single room, you may be interested in the unit Honeywell has to offer. The Honeywell HCM-6009 Cool Mist Evaporative Humidifier is one of the brands top models. It’s a pretty big unit with a lot of extra features that can cover a very large space (2,300 ft.²). I don’t know how effective this will be at humidifying most houses, but it worked really well on the main floor of our home. With these types of humidifiers, you may need to move them around from room to room to help evenly disperse the humidity. If I’m going to use it at night, I either bring it in my room or I move it to one that’s close by.
Overall, I’m more of a fan of ultrasonic humidifiers than anything else. Although, for the amount of space it can cover along with it’s really good internal cleaning system, you almost can’t tell a difference.
What is it?
The Honeywell HCM-6009 QuietCare is a dual water tank machine that can hold up to 3.25 gal. of water. It can run for up to 24 hrs on one filling and can mist up to 9 gal. per day. This unit uses a proprietary feature called “Air Washing Technology“. What it does is help remove any dust particles, mold or bacteria from entering into your room and aggravating your allergies.
The Honeywell HCM-6009 uses “Cool Moisture Technology” which works by pulling in dry air from your room and then passing it through an antimicrobial filter. It then blows it back into your space as a cool invisible mist. The mist can also be automatically controlled with it’s “Advanced Mist Humidistat“ which works to maintain your preferred humidity level by turning itself on and off.
Lastly, this unit comes with 3 fan speeds and is equipped with a wick and cleaning cartridge, that do a pretty goof job of preventing the growth of and mold of foul odours.
*This unit looks silver from it’s picture, although it is really white*
What I liked?
I didn’t think that the Honeywell HCM-6009 would do that good of a job. Especially overnight since it wasn’t directly in my room. Although, after the first night my nose wasn’t as dry as I thought it would be. I also liked how quiet this machine ran. On the lowest setting you can barely hear anything. since this machine can humidify such a large space you can set it on high and you will barely hear it once you’re in another room. Either way it’s QuietCare technology does a really good job of keeping its volume level very low.
Another thing I really liked about this machine was its dual water tanks. Rather than one big jug to have to fill, it’s much easier on the body to only have to carry half of the load at once. It’s lasts a very long time throughout the day without too many re-fills and isn’t very hard to clean either.
What I didn’t Like?
One thing that I didn’t like about the Honeywell HCM-6009 unit was that it tended to rattle a little bit, which I believe was from the vibration of its fan. Another thing I didn’t like was its overall size. It is meant for a whole floor or in some cases a whole house up to 2300 ft.² so I guess it’s understandable. Once it’s tucked away in another room, it’s not that big of a deal anyway.
In the end, if you’re looking for an affordable humidifier that will do a very good job of maintaining moisture throughout your floor or even your house, then the Honeywell HCM-6009 QuietCare is a very good option. Not only is it good at covering a large area, but it’s advanced features do a good job of keeping the machine and it’s air clean, while so keeping your allergies under control.
